Our Concept
The Center for Leadership and People Management was founded in November 2007 as part of the LMU Excellence Initiative.
The Center for Leadership and People Management was founded in November 2007 as part of the LMU Excellence Initiative.
At its core, the Center for Leadership and People Management stands for three cultures:
A culture of excellence.
A culture of fairness and appreciation.
A culture of ethics-oriented leadership and collaboration.
The targeted personnel development of scientists is playing an increasingly important role at leading research organizations. The importance of diverse and evidence-based training opportunities, the relevance of an open-minded and tolerant working environment and health-promoting measures are greater than ever today.
At the same time, personnel development is becoming more and more relevant on an individual level. In addition to professional skills, socio-emotional skills are increasingly key to enabling and advancing a successful career in academia. Against the backdrop of an ever faster changing world and the constant expansion of technological possibilities, lifelong learning and continuous professional skills development are essential.
This is what we aim to promote at the Center for Leadership and People Management.
We offer a scientifically based personnel development program in the areas of leadership, cooperation, communication, health and values that is specifically tailored to the needs of LMU academics.
In terms of content, we are guided by the principle "Leading with excellence. Leading in research". Leading with excellence means setting high standards with regard to the quality and innovation of work (research and teaching) and communicating these to employees. At the same time, leading with excellence implies striving for fair and appreciative interaction with people and taking into account the aspirations of employees: aspirations for appreciation, fairness, trust, conveying meaning and comprehensive and honest communication.
We believe that excellence in performance, combined with human dignity, is not a contradiction, but rather an addition and also a prerequisite for long-term success. This leadership style, which attempts to combine performance orientation and humanity, is referred to as ethics-oriented leadership and forms the basis for all our events.
The basis for the strategic orientation of the CLPM is the LMU Munich's strategic vision, which is based on five pillars:
Every semester, we offer around 40 different seminars and events specifically for LMU academics. Our offer has been met with great positive feedback.
We look forward to welcoming you to our events!
